New Litters
I thought I would start our first attempt at blogging by following the progress of our next litters. I will share what the girls are up to, how they are feeling and generally share some of the day to day activities as we lead up to the big day.
Not one, but two litters of puppies are about to begin their journey into this world! Zini, “Killingworth’s Grand Zinnia” has headed down to Massachusetts to join with Gally, “Erinhill’s Gallagher” and start another litter of beautiful yellow and black pups, and Marley, “Killingworth’s Lady Marley” headed north on Saturday to try a litter with Chase, “Wassookeag’s Chasin the Wind”. Chase and Marley will create a litter of black and chocolate puppies.
Zini didn’t seem interested in heading down to Massachusetts, I could tell she didn’t want to leave Debbie and her life of comfort. She is quite the princess, she lives full-time with Debbie, a friend and fellow Lab lover. She has a fun family life, with Sweetie Pea and Zoe, and Max and Jackson. She gets to swim and run through the woods each day, a perfect lab life. Why would she want to leave, but off she went!
Marley on the other hand lives with a family with young girls. She is active and fun, and always ready for a good-time. This is her first litter and she was very excited when I dropped her off at the Waasookeag Kennels. I could tell the smells and sounds of all the dogs were exciting for her when we walked into the kennel. Of course, it wasn’t as easy as just walking into the kennel. When we arrived and I opened the back door of the car, she and Lilly jumped out and started darting around the yard and around the car. I am sure I looked like quite the sight, as I bounded after them to no avail. Finally, after 5 minutes of chasing eachother round and round, Lilly became exhausted and headed for the car and Marley slipped into her lead so we could go in! I am sure she is having a very “good” time.
We won’t have a confirmation pregnancy for at least a month. The pregnancy tests can be taken at 23 to 30 days. We’ll keep you posted.
Until later.
